It’s a fact that many of us find this hectic, rushed modern world difficult to navigate at times. It’s no different for greyhounds and at Makants we like to take a step back with our adoption process and give all the greyhounds that arrive with us TIME, in fact all the TIME they need.
🕘TIME to settle with us and be assessed
🕘TIME to let their personality shine and be themselves
🕘TIME to experience the outside world with the help of our volunteers
🕘TIME to experience a home setting in our enrichment room (which helps with the transition process)
🕘TIME to spend with prospective adopters (walking and spending time with them)
🕘TIME to assess their prospective homes with adopters via a home visit
🕘TIME to settle in their new home offered as a two week home trial before final adoption

🕘TIME invested in the homing process ensures a smooth transition from racing greyhound to a much loved pet and keeps our ‘return’ rate extremely low. It’s also why adopters return to us for subsequent homings and recommend the rescue to others interested in adopting.
