Five year old handsome lad BUDDY arrived with us initially in 2023.
BUDDY DOB 1.4.19 Five year old handsome lad BUDDY arrived with us initially in 2023. He was adopted in November last year but is now back with us through absolutely no fault of his own. BUDDY is a fabulous dog! He is an absolute favourite of our volunteer dog walkers and is a pleasure to take out on walks. When out and about he is not reactive to any breed of dog he meets, he loves to take some time to sniff though! He has had many trips to local cafes and days out with our volunteers and has always behaved well. Buddy can often be found playing with toys in his kennel and is generally a relaxed boy who is happy to be back with us in kennels. Having said that we do want to find a forever home for him, he would make a fabulous 'Buddy' for someone! Three year old DOLLY joined us on the 12th December 2024.
DOLLY 3 years of age Well, 'Hello Dolly'! Three year old DOLLY joined us on the 12th December 2024. An affectionate girl who is always happy to see our volunteers greeting them with a waggy tail, DOLLY walks well on the lead and enjoys the company of the other greyhounds. She is slowly getting used to other breeds of dog she meets on her walks but walks well. DOLLY has already lived in a home for a short while before she came to us for homing. Whilst DOLLY is still settling with us we do feel she needs reassurance and would need someone to be around at home with her the majority of the time. EXPRESS arrived with us on the 12th November 2024.
EXPRESS arrived with us on the 12th November 2024 and settled in well. He remains a nervous lad and has taken time to get to know our volunteers and routine, but is now starting to relax. He is taking in a lot of new experiences and growing in confidence each day that passes. Express can still be reactive towards other breeds of dog that he meets on his daily walk but is making progress with some of our regular volunteers who he now trusts. He enjoys a fuss after his walk and has spent some time in our enrichment room. We are looking for a quiet home for Express with someone who has some greyhound/large dog experience. photos Shilpa Grewal, Miriam Payne, Sharon Middling

*DIANA is now RESERVED* DIANA arrived with us on the 28th October.
DIANA D.O.B. December 2021 DIANA arrived with us on the 28th October and was a little timid at first getting used to a new routine and environment. She has now settled in well, enjoys her walks with the other greyhounds and walks beautifully on the lead. She has also spent some time in our enrichment (home from home) room and was particularly fascinated with the washing machine! DIANA loves to play with her toys and has established a routine whereby she will play with them each evening in her kennel after her tea. We are looking for a quiet home for DIANA and, as she loves humans so much, think she would be happy to be the only hound in the household. www.makants.uk photo credit Shilpa Grewal, Hannah Master

He walks well on the lead and also seems to be fine with other breeds of dog he has met on his walks. 3 year old FLIGHT joined us on the 4th May 2024.
❤ FLIGHT ❤ D.O.B. September 2021 FLIGHT arrived with us on the 4th May and soon settled in. He's a younger dog, only 3 years, and can have his 'giddy' moments in anticipation of his walks. Once on his walk he does settle and walks well on the lead enjoying the company of the other hounds. He is not reactive to other breeds of dog he meets when out and about. FLIGHT is a friendly boy and , as he’s still quite young, can be quite playful at times. We think FLIGHT would be happy to live with another similar sized dog for company and we're looking for people with some experience of owning a dog for him. We think FLIGHT would also appreciate someone being around at home with him while he settles in. Details on our homing requirements, along with an application form, can be found on our website: www.makants.uk photos Shilpa Grewal, Celine Tang

4 year old REGGIE joined us on the 6th April 2024.
REGGIE D.O.B. January 2020 Handsome 4 year old REGGIE is our dog of the month for December. REGGIE arrived with us in April 2024 and soon settled in. We’ve found him to be a friendly and affectionate boy who loves fuss and his toys in equal measure. He loves to meet any visitors to kennels and laps up the attention! He recently spent some time 'helping' our volunteer John in the sand paddock as he loves human company - and loves to see what's going on! REGGIE also likes his daily walks and can get excited initially when going out but soon settles down. His reactivity towards other breeds has really lessened now thanks to work undertaken by our walking volunteers. REGGIE is a very loving dog. We think he would be happy to live as an only dog or with a female greyhound for company. We're looking for people with some experience of owning a large dog, not necessarily a greyhound, for him. More details on our homing requirements, along with an application form, can be found on our website www.makants.uk photo Shilpa Grewal, Jo Maxwell, Alex www.makants.uk

Three year old OTIS arrived with us on the 28th February 2024.
OTIS D.O.B. December 2020 Four year old OTIS arrived with us on the 28th February 2024 along with his brother REUBEN. Reuben has since found his forever home but OTIS is still waiting for his. OTIS is a timid boy but is gaining steadily in confidence. He’s a friendly boy who appreciates the quieter things in life and enjoys attention from our volunteers. He can still be reactive towards other breeds of dog he meets on his walks but this is lessening through exposure and work undertaken by our volunteers. Due to his timid nature we are looking for a quiet, child free home for OTIS. Details on our homing requirements, along with an application form, can be found on our website www.makants.uk photos Shilpa Grewal, Mason Pulman

5 year old STORM arrived with us on the 8th November 2023.
STORM (Female) D.O.B. April 2019 5 year old STORM arrived with us on the 8th November 2023. On arrival STORM was very timid as everything was new to her. As she has settled in, and after being given some time, she has improved and is now making great progress gaining confidence day by day. This is in part thanks to the support of our volunteers and the new experiences they are able to offer her. However, STORM still remains anxious at times and can be sensitive to loud noises. STORM enjoys frequent trips out in a volunteers' car to a nearby area where she enjoys her walks and has had many new experiences - which she has coped well with. Storm travels well in the car and is not reactive to other breeds of dog she meets on her walks. She particularly enjoys spending time in water if she can, and also loves a good run around our on site sand paddock. Siobhan describes Storm as a 'lovely, gentle soul'. She is happy and relaxed in her kennel and quite playful with volunteers she knows and trusts. We feel STORM would thrive in a home with at least one other dog for company and would gain confidence from following their lead. We are looking for a quiet home for Storm without small children as they make her anxious. Anyone interested in adopting Storm would need to spend considerable time at kennels getting to know her as part of the pre adoption process. We also feel Storm would need someone at home for the initial ‘settling in’ period. Information on our homing requirements, along with an application form, can be found on our website www.makants.uk photos Shilpa Grewal, Jo Maxwell, Anne Taberner

Five year old LADDIE joined us on the 18th November 2022.
LADDIE D.O.B. September 2019 Five year old LADDIE joined us on the 18th November 2022. Described by Siobhan as a 'lovely gentle and friendly lad', LADDIE has settled in well. He loves a cuddle and gets on well with all our female greyhounds, but with male greyhounds he is a little more picky who he spends his time with. Laddie can get anxious boy at times if he finds himself in a new situation but can be reassured by his regular walkers who he ABSOLUTELY loves. Recently Laddie has enjoyed time spent in our new enrichment (home from home) room and also loves volunteers spending time with him after walks in his kennel. photo credit Shilpa Grewal, Alex, Mason Pulman
