JOHN DOB 16.9.21 3.5 year old JOHN joined us on the 28th May 2025. John is settling in well and seems a confident lad, walking well on the lead. He has spent some time in the enrichment (home from home) room and took it all in his stride. He does have the most unusual ears if you look closely in the photos! We'll share more information when we have got to know him better but for now we welcome JOHN to the Makants family. (MINNIE has previously been kennelled with JOHN and they are very bonded. While we would home either of them separately we would prefer if they could be homed together as they are so fond of each other) photos Shilpa Grewal

KEIR is showing himself to be similar in character to Pele, and while still very affectionate, also has a calmer personality. During our photoshoot he was just after fuss so it was a little difficult to get many photos (we'll try again soon). We welcome KEIR to the Makants family and will update you again soon. photos Shilpa Grewal

He is having new experiences such as spending time in our enrichment (home from home) room and is coping well. As you will see from photos, Trigger has a rather adorable 'overbite' .This lad, all 40 kgs of loveliness, came to us equipped with his very own food bowl. It's not that he eats more than the other hounds, as you can see it is needed to accommodate his rather large 'snoot'. photos Shilpa Grewal

She has settled in well and has already spent some time in our sensory garden, finding her reflection in the mirror rather interesting! PIP is a laid back dog who is easy to walk - and she prefers not to go too far - and enjoys much sniffing when out and about! She is not reactive to other breeds of dog she meets on her walks. She is a quiet and confident girl who also loves fuss and chin rubs from our volunteers. PIP would be fine to be the only dog in a home but could equally live with another laid back hound. 3.5 year old RAMBO arrived with us on the 26th April 2025.
❤RAMBO❤ 3.5 year old RAMBO arrived with us on the 26th April 2025. He has settled in well , has enjoyed spending some time in our enrichment (home from home) room and found the TV rather fascinating! He loves to play with toys and has also spent time in our sensory garden and enjoyed investigating in there too. RAMBO has enjoyed a couple of days out to Pennington Flash and Astley Park in Chorley with our volunteers and travelled well in the car. They tell us that he walks well on the lead and ignored other breeds of dog - as well as squirrels, horses and geese – that he passed and lapped up any fuss given to him by passers by. He’s been fondly described by one of our volunteers as a ‘daft friendly creature’. We think RAMBO could live equally on his own or with a female greyhound for company and would make an Ideal boy for a first time greyhound owner who has some dog experience. Details on our homing requirements, along with an application form, can be found on our website www.makants.uk Photo credits Shilpa Grewal, Sharon Middling

4.5 year old GARETH arrived with us on the 10th March 2025.
4.5 year old GARETH arrived with us on the 10th March and was a little timid at first but settled after a couple of weeks. He is now much more confident and has always been non reactive to other breeds of dog he meets on his daily walks. Described by Siobhan as a 'handsome boy' he is an easy hound to care for and is just starting to show his playful side too. He also loves to receive as much fuss as possible from our volunteers. We are looking for an adopter with some experience of owning a dog, not necessarily a greyhound. GARETH could live with another large breed dog or would be equally as happy to be the only hound in the house. 3.5 year old ANGEL arrived with us on the 10th January 2025.
*ANGEL* Three and a half year old ANGEL arrived with us on the 10th January 2025. ANGEL has settled in well but can still be timid and often unsure if she hears new noises. She has already shown our regular volunteers that she enjoys their company and is affectionate in return. ANGEL can also be quite playful and enjoys playing with toys in her kennel. ANGEL walks well on the lead, doesn’t react to other breeds of dog, and loves walking with the other greyhounds, gaining confidence from them. For ANGEL we are looking for an adult only, quiet home with an adopter who can spend time at home with her initially helping her settle in. We think ANGEL would like to be the only hound in a household and anyone interested in adopting ANGEL would need to spend some time visiting and walking her at kennels, in order to build up a trusting relationship. DOLLY has settled well with us and enjoys spending time in the enrichment (home from home) room, and although she loves our volunteers, can be strong willed at times thinking she's in charge! EXPRESS arrived with us on the 12th November 2024.
EXPRESS arrived with us on the 12th November 2024 and settled in well. He remains a nervous lad and has taken time to get to know our volunteers and routine, but is now starting to relax. He is taking in a lot of new experiences and growing in confidence each day that passes. Express can still be reactive towards other breeds of dog that he meets on his daily walk but is making progress with some of our regular volunteers who he now trusts. He enjoys a fuss after his walk and has spent some time in our enrichment room. We are looking for a quiet home for Express with someone who has some greyhound/large dog experience. photos Shilpa Grewal, Miriam Payne, Sharon Middling

5 year old REGGIE joined us on the 6th April 2024.
REGGIE D.O.B. January 2020 REGGIE arrived with us in April 2024 and soon settled in. We’ve found him to be a friendly and affectionate boy who loves fuss and his toys in equal measure. He loves to meet any visitors to kennels and laps up the attention! He recently spent some time 'helping' our volunteer John in the sand paddock as he loves human company - and loves to see what's going on! REGGIE also likes his daily walks and can get excited initially when going out but soon settles down. His reactivity towards other breeds has really lessened now thanks to work undertaken by our walking volunteers. REGGIE is a very loving dog. We think he would be happy to live as an only dog as he would love nothing more than having all the humans to himself. We're looking for people with some experience of owning a large dog, not necessarily a greyhound, for him. *OTIS is now RESERVED* Three year old OTIS arrived with us on the 28th February 2024.
OTIS D.O.B. December 2020 Four year old OTIS arrived with us on the 28th February 2024 along with his brother REUBEN. Reuben has since found his forever home but OTIS is still waiting for his. OTIS is a timid boy but is gaining steadily in confidence. He’s a friendly boy who appreciates the quieter things in life and enjoys attention from our volunteers. He can still be reactive towards other breeds of dog he meets on his walks but this is lessening through exposure and work undertaken by our volunteers. Due to his timid nature we are looking for a quiet, child free home for OTIS. Details on our homing requirements, along with an application form, can be found on our website www.makants.uk photos Shilpa Grewal, Mason Pulman, Jo Maxwell

5 year old STORM arrived with us on the 8th November 2023.
STORM (Female) D.O.B. April 2019 5 year old STORM arrived with us on the 8th November 2023. On arrival STORM was very timid as everything was new to her. As she has settled in, and after being given some time, she has improved and is now making great progress gaining confidence day by day. This is in part thanks to the support of our volunteers and the new experiences they are able to offer her. However, STORM still remains anxious at times and can be sensitive to loud noises. STORM enjoys frequent trips out in a volunteers' car to a nearby area where she enjoys her walks and has had many new experiences - which she has coped well with. Storm travels well in the car and is not reactive to other breeds of dog she meets on her walks. She particularly enjoys spending time in water if she can, and also loves a good run around in our on site sand paddock. Siobhan describes Storm as a 'lovely, gentle soul'. She is happy and relaxed in her kennel and quite playful with volunteers she knows and trusts. We feel STORM would thrive in a home with at least one other dog for company and would gain confidence from following their lead. We are looking for a quiet home for Storm without small children as they make her anxious. Anyone interested in adopting Storm would need to spend considerable time at kennels getting to know her as part of the pre adoption process. We also feel Storm would need someone at home for the initial ‘settling in’ period. Information on our homing requirements, along with an application form, can be found on our website www.makants.uk photos Shilpa Grewal, Sue Wraith, Anne Taberner
If you would like to find out more about STORM featured here please contact either Sue our re-homing co-ordinator on 07794463249 or Siobhan at kennels on 07960561988. Alternatively you can complete our short homing questionnaire here, one of our team will then get back to you.
Five year old LADDIE joined us on the 18th November 2022.
LADDIE D.O.B. September 2019 Five year old LADDIE joined us on the 18th November 2022. Described by Siobhan as a 'lovely gentle and friendly lad', LADDIE has settled in well. He loves a cuddle and gets on well with all our female greyhounds, but with male greyhounds he is a little more picky who he spends his time with. Laddie can be an anxious boy at times if he finds himself in a new situation but can be reassured by his regular walkers who he ABSOLUTELY loves. Recently Laddie has enjoyed time spent in our new enrichment (home from home) room and also loves volunteers spending time with him after walks in his kennel (as these photos show) photo credit Shilpa Grewal, Alex, Jo Maxwell
