Events 2024

Here are our up to date planned events for 2024. We will add more each week so be sure to keep an eye on this page, we also list events on our facebook page too.

April 2024  (Adopt a Greyhound month)

• Sunday 28th April –  We are having a fundraising/awareness stall at the Beacon Park Dog Festival, Beacon Lane, Up Holland WN8 7RU from 11 am to 3 pm. We’ll have lots of dog related merchandise for sale along with hand made items. We should have some greyhounds for you to meet too!

May 2024

• Saturday 11th May – NAIL CLIPPING – at kennels, GREYHOUNDS ONLY PLEASE.
  Advance notice of our next nail clipping session at kennels taking place on Saturday 11th May. No appointment is needed but please be prepared to wait. We do ask for a donation for this service. Please can we also respectfully ask that the times are adhered to, Siobhan is obviously very busy with the greyhounds in kennels and only available during the hour allocated. Thanks for your understanding.
• Sunday  12th May  – You can find our team of volunteers at the Pets at Home, Walkden store from 10 am to 4 pm. They will have dog related items for sale along with many hand crafted items made and donated by our own Crafters group. They’ll be happy to talk ‘all things greyhound’ with you, plus there should be a greyhound or two for you to meet.😍
• Saturday 18th May – You can find our team of volunteers at the Pets at Home, Horwich store from 10 am to 4 pm. They will have dog related items for sale along with many hand crafted items made and donated by our own Crafters group.
• Saturday 25th May – raising awareness at the Worker Bee Market, details to follow.
• Sunday 26th May – We are taking part in the Flashes of Nature festival taking place over two days at Pennington Flash. It’s a free to enter festival connecting local people to nature. We are present on the Sunday 26th May only. Please come along and ‘talk all things greyhound’ with us on the Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm, WN7 3PA.

June 2024

•  Sunday 2nd June – raising awareness at Golborne Carnival, details to follow
• Sunday 16th June – Our next social dog walk takes place at Etherow Country Park, George Street, Compstall, Romily, Stockport SK6 5JD (another new venue for us). Walk details are: Meet at 9.30 am for a 10.00 am start
  Two walks available – short walk of 30 minutes, longer walk of approx. 1 hour
  Sighthounds only please – however companion dogs of other breeds are welcome
  Pay and display car parking
  All dogs must remain on leads, NO extendable leads please
  £2 per hound donation to Makants
• “This is a social walking event organised by Makants Greyhound Rescue. You are responsible for yourself and your dog (s). Suitable footwear and clothing is advised.“
• Sunday 23rd June – Atherton carnival
• Sunday 30th June – Makants dog show and family fun day, more details to follow! New venue: Mosley Common. Stay tuned.

July 2024

• Saturday 6th July – raising awareness at Atherton Market
• Saturday 13th July – Morecambe cross bay sponsored walk by our Volunteer team
• Saturday 20th July and Sunday 21st July – raising awareness at the Green Fayre, Beacon Country Park
• Saturday 27th July – raising awareness at the Worker Bee Market, Reddish

August 2024

• Saturday 3rd August – raising awareness at the Wigan Hospice Garden Party
