MAY 2025

Saturday 17th May 2025 – 10.30 am to 5.30 pm. We’re pleased to attend this local event in Astley. We’ll have all dog related items for sale along with hand crafted pieces made by our own Crafters group. Please come along and support this event and your local greyhound rescue.

Sunday 18th May 2025 – Sighthound social dog walk at:
Cuerden Valley Park, Berkeley Drive, Bamber Bridge, Preston. PR5 6BY
Time: 10.00am to set off at 10.15 am NOTE SLIGHTLY EARLIER TIME**
Walk length: SHORTER WOODED WALK DUE TO EXPECTED TEMPERATURES
All dogs must remain on leads, no extendable leads please.
Voluntary £2 donation per hound.
Dog friendly cafe, toilets available. Pay and display parking.
*SIGHTHOUNDS ONLY PLEASE*

Saturday 24 May 2025 – 10am to 3 pm. We are pleased to have been invited along to the Starbucks, Parr Bridge, Mosley Common establishment to hold an awareness session. (M29 8PR). If you’ve ever wondered about adopting a greyhound this is an ideal opportunity to come along and find out more about these fabulous dogs. See you there!

Sunday 25th May – 11am to 1 pm you can find us at the Pets at Home, Horwich Middlebrook store. We’ll have greyhounds for you to meet and we’d love to chat all things greyhound with you.

Saturday 31st May 2025 – Fun Dog Show event at Broadstone Mill, Reddish, Stockport SK5 7DL. We are pleased to return to run a Fun Dog Show as part of the Worker Bee Market, an event that was very popular and well attended last year. The Reddish Worker Bee Market runs from 11am to 3pm, the fun fog show from 11.30 am to 2pm. Dog Show classes are £2 per dog per class, entry on the day. Funds raised from the dog show will support our rescue.

11.30 Prettiest Girl

11.45 Most Handsome Boy

12.00 Best Rescue

12.15 Golden Oldie (dogs over 8 years of age)

12.30 Best Sighthound

12.45 Dog the judge would most like to take home

1.00 Most appealing eyes

1.15 Dog that looks most like its owner

2.00 Best In Show (all first prize winners of previous classes)

A free 30-minute photoshoot for your prize winning pooch at the scenic Reddish Vale Country Park. Also included, is a 6×4 instant print to remember their shining moment.

JUNE 2025

Sunday 1st June 2025 – Fundraising stall at Golborne Carnival, 11 am to 5 pm. We are pleased to be returning to this popular carnival in Golborne on 1st June. We’ll have a stall packed with items for human and hound, many of them home made by our own crafters group. We also hope to have some greyhounds for you to meet. Please come along and see us!

Saturday 7th June 2025 – Nail clipping session at kennels, 11.30 to 12.30. No appointment required (be aware you may have a lengthy wait) and we do ask for a donation for this service. Greyhounds only please. You are responsible for yourself and your dog (s). You MUST muzzle your dog if there is the possibility they may be reactive towards other dogs.*We would respectfully ask that anyone attends during this hour ONLY.* Refreshments available and our fully stocked kennels shop will be open. Greyhounds only please.

Free parking
Meet at main car park next to lake. 10 am ready for 10.30 start
Please note: there are NO toilet or cafe facilities
Approx 1 hour stroll, shorter route option if required
£2 per hound voluntary donation

MAKANTS SUMMER FAIR WEEKEND!

Being held once again on Mosley common – M28 1DT – and this year we have a TWO day event planned!

On Saturday 28th June from 12 noon to 4 pm: Family Fun Day including a funfair, ‘Have a go’ agility course, stalls and dog photo booth PLUS a Community Table Top Sale, an ideal time to sell those items you no longer need. (There is no charge for pitches but a small donation is appreciated, you would need to provide own tables, own gazebo optional. Any enquiries please e mail admin@makants.uk)

On Sunday 29th June from 10 am to 4 pm we have our Fun Dog Show event with the funfair, local artisan stalls, home made cakes, dog treats and our dog show starting at 12 noon. With two rings and entrance fee only £2.00 per dog per class (enter and pay on the day) the dog show is always popular!

We do hope you will be able to come along to our Summer Fair weekend and help us raise funds for the greyhounds in our care.

JULY 2025

Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th July 2025 – 10 am to 4 pm. We will have a stall at the Green Fayre at Beacon Country Park, Upholland. WN8 7RU. We are delighted to be attending this popular event once again this year. More details will follow nearer the time but definitely a date for your diary!
