🌟🌟END OF YEAR ROUND UP🌟🌟
‘Being our birthday year we have had far more social dog walks which have expanded into areas further afield, helping spread the word about our rescue. Our four big fundraising events this year were the dog show in June, the Three Peaks challenge in July, the Xmas fair in November at Boothstown British Legion, and our 10th birthday walk in December at the Mining Museum – which was rather memorable due to the poor weather! Thanks to everyone who has supported these events in any way.
Our Crafters group continue to make such fabulous items for us to sell and to raise funds. We’ve also had sales through our attendance at Car boots and through E Bay and Vinted, all helping to bring the funds into the rescue
A very welcome full year of support from Burns Pet Nutrition ensured our hounds were fed on a high quality food, and they certainly thrived on it too!
Earlier in the year we introduced monthly ‘meet a greyhound’ sessions which resulted in several hounds being homed and people being introduced to the breed. Despite the economic downturn – and a slow start to homing – we ended the year homing our 51st hound, making our running total over the 10 years we have been in existence a fabulous 644 hounds homed!😁
We have continued to enjoy support from Pets at Home Walkden and Horwich and the Pets Foundation and look forward to working with them in 2024.
Finally, I’d like to send my thanks to all our supporters and to our amazing, selfless volunteers who help to keep the rescue running day to day. With your combined help we can continue to get even more greyhounds into homes and let people know that greyhounds make great pets.
Best wishes to you all for 2024!’
