This year it has been great to get back to some kind of ‘normality’. We’re pleased to share our round up of the year with you, starting with our fundraising activity.

FUNDRAISING: We were so pleased to be able to hold our dog show and Christmas fair once again after a two year break. Both events were so well attended, raising vital funds for the rescue, and we thank you all for your support.

We’ve continued to work with our local Pets at Home stores (Walkden and Horwich) and the Pets at Home foundation, recently completing volunteering in stores for their Santa Paws appeal.

We enjoyed two organised social dog walks and the Great Global Greyhound Walk.

We have been grateful for continued support from talented artist Angela Bamwell who once again donated a stunning original painting for fundraising.

All our volunteers have continued to work tirelessly throughout the year fundraising in person and online and with our Ebay, car boot sales, online auctions and kennel sponsorship too. Our crafters group have continued to produce high quality work that enables us to attend craft fairs to complement our fundraising.

KENNELS: We have homed 71 greyhounds this year, our running total is getting SO very close to 600 dogs homed since the rescue started in 2013. We are lucky to have so many committed volunteers who continue to turn up to walk the hounds, no matter the weather.

During the summer our enrichment (home from home) room was completed which is a fantastic asset to the rescue, allowing hounds to spend time in a home environment, getting used to new sights and sounds.

As the year drew to a close we were so pleased to be able to announce that we were chosen as Burns Pet Nutrition UK charity of the year 2022, a great honour. We very much look forward to working with them throughout 2023.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support which means the world to us, especially in these uncertain times. We send our best wishes to you all for 2023.
