🐾RESCUE DOG DAY🐾

Today, 20th May is National Rescue Dog Day, a day to highlight the incredible value of rescue dogs and the joy they bring to our lives.

We caught up with Tracey and Ian who adopted VELVET and VINCENT from Makants. They told us:

‘We adopted Velvet in October 22 and then Vincent in November 23. Each hound has a different character but both dogs settled into home life very quickly despite never having lived in a home before. They are both gentle and loving dogs, easy to bond with and always there for a hug or a greyhound ‘lean’.

Velvet, sadly, was discovered to have Osteosarcoma and underwent an amputation at the beginning of this year. She manages well though and often forgets she just has three legs and can move quite fast – especially if she sees a squirrel!

We chose rescue rather than buying a dog and have not regretted this decision for a moment. They are both a huge part of our family and we all appreciate their very different personalities. Velvet is the calm, quiet one, happy to be cuddled. Vincent is the goofy clown who constantly makes us laugh with his antics and mischief. Between the two of them there is certainly never a dull moment! We are very grateful to have them both in our lives.’
