🌟SENSORY GARDEN UPDATE🌟🌱🌳
You may remember plans are underway for a Sensory Garden at kennels, with work to clear the ground already undertaken at the end of last year.
Recent work has included putting together the raised beds which continued again this weekend with hard work put in by Martin and Wendy Draper. Kennel hound BAMBI paid a visit to ‘supervise’ the work. We were so impressed with BAMBI’s calm manner, she was interested in what was going on but wasn’t at all worried about the noise from the drilling and sawing.
We are very excited about this project with trees and shrubs now being delivered it is about to become a reality. The garden, which is sited behind the enrichment (home from home) room near top kennels, will include a grassed area, solar water feature, as well as trees, herbs and a seating area with pagoda. The area will also include grasses and ferns and textured areas using mediums such as bark.
It’s going to be a relaxing place for volunteers and hounds to spend time together, giving the dogs some time away from the kennel environment too. We’ll keep you updated on our progress.
