At Makants Greyhound Rescue, our priority is not only finding loving homes for our dogs, but also helping adopters give them the safest, happiest start possible.
That’s why we’re delighted to announce our partnership with Travall, leading up to April – Greyhound Adoption Month!
Travall are specialists in vehicle-specific car accessories, and throughout April, Travall will be gifting EVERY Makants adopter a Travall Dog Guard, helping to ensure that each newly adopted greyhound travels safely and securely from day one.
In addition to dog guards, Travall offer a wide range of practical accessories designed to make life easier for dog parents. Why safe travel matters
Many dog owners don’t realise that an unrestrained dog in a vehicle poses serious risks. In the event of sudden braking or a collision, a dog can be thrown forward with significant force, potentially injuring themselves and passengers.
That’s why Rule 57 of the Highway Code states that dogs must be suitably restrained when travelling in a vehicle. A dog guard is classed as a suitable restraint, helping to prevent distractions to the driver and reducing the risk of injury in the event of an accident.
For greyhounds, safe and calm travel is especially important. After leaving racing kennels, many of our dogs are experiencing everyday life for the very first time. New sounds, movements and environments can feel overwhelming. Creating a secure space in the boot of your car helps them feel protected while keeping everyone else safe too.
Supporting our adopters
At Makants Greyhound Rescue, we rescue, rehabilitate and rehome ex-racing greyhounds, and we also support greyhounds from individuals who can no longer provide the care they need. Every adoption is carefully matched, and we remain on hand to guide families as their new companion settles in.
