SEPTEMBER 2025
Saturday 20th September 2025 – 11.30 am to 2.30 pm. We are attending the local Cats Protection Autumn Fair at Kingsleigh Community Centre, King Street, Leigh WN7 4LJ.Venue is close to Leigh Bus Station and there is free parking at the rear accessible via Cook Street. Admission is 50p. We hope you’ll support this local cat rescue – and of course our greyhound rescue!
🌟MEET A GREYHOUND EVENT🌟 **JUST ONE SPACE REMAINING!**
We have planned another of our ‘Meet a Greyhound’ events which will take place at kennels on:
Saturday 20th September 2025 between 10.30 am and 1.00 pm
Through these events we hope to interest more people new to the breed who are keen to find out about greyhounds and greyhound adoption. It is an ideal opportunity to come along to kennels, ask questions, and meet a greyhound at the same time.

Saturday 27th September 2025 – 11 am to 1 pm. We’re pleased to be back at the Pets at Home, Horwich Middlebrook store. We’ll be fundraising for the greyhounds in our care and should have some greyhounds for you to meet too! Please come along and talk ‘all things greyhound’ with our volunteers.
Sunday 28th September 2025 – We are pleased to announce our own local *sighthound only* walk as part of the GREAT GLOBAL GREYHOUND WALK 2025. Taking place at Windy Bank Woods, adjacent to Bents Garden centre, Warrington Road, Glazebury, WA3 5NT
Meeting for 10 am with the walk to set off at 10.30 am, the walk lasts approximately 1.5 hours with a short walk route available.
Voluntary donation of £2 per hound
Merchandise available to purchase – coats, collars, treats etc – after the walk. Raffle on the day at only £1 a strip with some fantastic prizes available.
Let’s see if we can beat last year’s total of number of greyhounds attending!
* *Note this is a social dog walking event organised by Makants Greyhound Rescue. You are responsible for yourself and your dog(s). Please muzzle your dog if they may be reactive. Suitable footwear and clothing is advised**

🌟NAIL CLIPPING🌟
Advance notice of our next clipping session at kennels which is taking place on Saturday 4th October 2025, 11.30 to 12.30 pm.
*We would respectfully ask that anyone attends during this hour ONLY.*
No appointment is required but please be advised that you may have a lengthy wait to be seen, we also do ask for a donation to the rescue for this service.
Our kennels shop will be open for sales of treats, collars, leads, coats etc. We are also stockists of Ostrich bones, priced at £16.
You are responsible for yourself and your dog (s). You MUST muzzle your dog if there is the possibility they may be reactive towards other dogs.
Saturday 11th October 2025 – We are pleased to be returning to the Tesco Haydock/St. Helens store (Bellerophon Way WA11 OGT). We’ll have some greyhounds for you to meet and it’s an ideal opportunity to come along and find out what wonderful pets they make. Please stop and chat if you’re out shopping.
Saturday 11th October 2025 – 10 am to 4 pm. We are pleased to once again have a stall on the popular Chorley craft market on Fazackerley Street in the town centre. Selling handmade items including dog coats for all breeds, we will also have greyhounds for you to meet. Please stop for a chat if you’re out shopping.
Saturday 11th October 2025 – 10 am to 2 pm. We are fundraising for the rescue at Tyldesley Makers market taking place in the town centre. Please support local makers – and your local greyhound rescue!
Sunday 26th October 2025 – plans are underway for a sighthound social dog walk on this day, please keep checking back to find out more details!
NOVEMBER 2025
Sunday 30th November 2025 – keep this date free for our annual Christmas Fair which will be taking place once again at Boothstown British Legion. More details to be announced.
