JACK D.O.B. November 2022 2.5 year old JACK joined us on the 11th August 2025 and has settled in well. He is a lovely boy who is easy to walk and is not reactive to other breeds of dog he meets when out and about. He loves to spend some time doing 'zoomies' in our sand paddock and also loves to play with toys. Jack enjoyed a day out recently with one of our experienced volunteers who reported that he was 'amazing' when meeting other breeds of dog and that he coped so well with all the new experiences he had. Being a younger dog Jack may like a little more daily exercise than our older hounds so would prefer an active home. Jack may be suitable for someone new to the breed but will need company at home, especially during the settling in period. photos Shilpa Grewal, Sharon Middling, Lisa M

JOHN DOB 16.9.21 While we're looking for a home for a bonded pair of greyhounds - Minnie (4 years) and John (3.5 years) - we would be prepared to home them individually too. Ā John initially took some time to settle in but now is very relaxed in our kennels and is used to our daily routine. He is confident on a walk, walks well on the lead and takes other breeds of dog in his stride. JOHN recently spent time in the enrichment (home from home) room while our Trustees Wendy and Fiona were having their lunch break. John absolutely loved his time in there, he was such a good boy and so well behaved around the food they were eating. He was just happy to have attention, cuddles, and love - and then settled down for a snooze on the big comfy bed in there.š We're looking for a home with someone who has some large dog experience (not necessarily greyhounds) and who can spend time at home with JOHN, especially in the initial settling in stage. photos Shilpa Grewal

He is enjoying his daily walks with our volunteers and is slowly getting used to other breeds of dog and is often excited to see them - in a positive way. DUKE recently enjoyed a day out with our volunteer Nick and visited Windy Bank Woods and Bents garden centre. They described him as 'walking so well on his lead, even when confronted by an angry terrier!' With a 'happy, go lucky' temperament, we've found DUKE absolutely loves playing with toys too! 4.5 year old GARETH arrived with us on the 10th March 2025.
GARETH D.O.B. Oct 2020 4.5 year old GARETH arrived with us on the 10th March. He was a little timid at first but settled in after a couple of weeks. Now he is used to our routine he looks forward to walk time and also loves to receive as much fuss as possible from our volunteers. Gareth walks well on the lead and is fine when meeting other breeds of dog when out and about. Gareth has gained in confidence during his time with us, although by nature he can be a little cautious of new people and new situations. We feel that any prospective adopters will need to spend some time with Gareth and build up a trusting relationship prior to any adoption. Described by Siobhan as a 'handsome boy' he is an easy hound to care for and his playful side is beginning to show too. We are looking for an adopter with some experience of owning a dog, not necessarily a greyhound. Gareth could live with another large breed dog or would be equally as happy to be the only hound in the house. ā¤ANGEL⤠D.O.B. 22.9.21 Three and a half year old ANGEL arrived with us on the 10th January 2025. ANGEL has settled in well but can still be timid and sometimes unsure if she hears new noises. She has already shown our regular volunteers that she enjoys their company and is affectionate in return. She can also be quite playful and enjoys playing with toys in her kennel and over is slowly gaining in confidence. Angel walks well on the lead, doesnāt react to other breeds of dog she meets, and loves her daily walks. We are slowly working on building up her confidence, and exposing her to new situations, and last week Angel enjoyed a day out at Rivington with our experienced volunteer Lisa. Lisa tells us 'She was so good, a little nervous at of the sound of all the children in the canoes on the reservoir but once she saw them she was fine, she really loved her walk and took in everything around her. We had a 'pit stop' at the lovely village tea rooms for refreshments before heading back through the woods to the car. Angel travelled really well and was no issue, a totally enjoyable morning for the pair of us'. For Angel we are looking for an adult only, quiet home with an adopter who can spend time at home with her initially helping her settle in. We think Angel would like to be the only hound in a household and anyone interested in adopting her would need to spend some time visiting and walking her at kennels, in order to build up a trusting relationship. EXPRESS arrived with us on the 12th November 2024.
EXPRESS D.O.B. 7.3.19 DOG OF THE MONTH FOR SEPTEMBER 2025 EXPRESS arrived with us on the 12th November 2024 and settled in well. Initially he was a little wary and took some time to get to know our volunteers and routine, but soon started to relax. His confidence has continued to increase with each passing day. At the beginning Express was reactive towards other breeds of dog that he met on his daily walks. Through daily exposure - and guidance from our walking volunteers - his behaviour has changed and he can now walk past any breed of dog calmly. He also enjoys a fuss after his walk and has spent some time in our enrichment room with our volunteers. He particularly loves zooming around our sand paddock! Recently Express enjoyed some time away from kennels, walking in Worsley woods where he had new experiences including noisy trucks and workmen laying a new path. We're pleased to say he took everything in his stride and was particularly happy to meet one of our volunteers and her hounds while on their walk. We are grateful to our volunteers for enabling Express to have new experiences such as this, all of which is vital preparation for his new life as a pet. We are looking for a quiet home for Express with someone who has some greyhound/large dog experience. 5 year old REGGIE joined us on the 6th April 2024.
REGGIE D.O.B. January 2020 REGGIE arrived with us in April 2024 and soon settled in. Weāve found him to be a friendly and affectionate boy who loves fuss and his toys in equal measure. He loves to meet any visitors to kennels and laps up the attention! He recently spent some time 'helping' our volunteer John in the sand paddock as he loves human company - and loves to see what's going on! REGGIE also likes his daily walks and can get excited initially when going out but soon settles down. His reactivity towards other breeds has really lessened now thanks to work undertaken by our walking volunteers. REGGIE is a very loving dog. We think he would be happy to live as an only dog as he would love nothing more than having all the humans to himself. We're looking for people with some experience of owning a large dog, not necessarily a greyhound, for him. 6 year old STORM arrived with us on the 8th November 2023.
STORM (Female) D.O.B. April 2019 6 year old STORM arrived with us on the 8th November 2023. On arrival STORM was very timid as everything was new to her. As she has settled in, and after being given some time, she has improved and is now making great progress gaining confidence day by day. This is in part thanks to the support of our volunteers and the new experiences they are able to offer her. However, STORM still remains anxious at times and can be sensitive to loud noises. STORM enjoys frequent trips out in a volunteers' car to a nearby area where she enjoys her walks and has had many new experiences - which she has coped well with. Storm travels well in the car and is not reactive to other breeds of dog she meets on her walks. She particularly enjoys spending time in water if she can, and also loves a good run around in our on site sand paddock. Siobhan describes Storm as a 'lovely, gentle soul'. She is happy and relaxed in her kennel and quite playful with volunteers she knows and trusts. We feel STORM would thrive in a home with at least one other dog for company and would gain confidence from following their lead. We are looking for a quiet home for Storm without small children as they make her anxious. Anyone interested in adopting Storm would need to spend considerable time at kennels getting to know her as part of the pre adoption process. We also feel Storm would also need someone at home for the initial āsettling inā period. Information on our homing requirements, along with an application form, can be found on our website www.makants.uk photos Shilpa Grewal, Sue Wraith, Anne Taberner

He loves a cuddle and gets on well with all our female greyhounds, but with male greyhounds he is a little more picky who he spends his time with. Laddie can be an anxious boy at times if he finds himself in a new situation but can be reassured by his regular walkers who he ABSOLUTELY loves. *We are looking for an ADULT ONLY HOME for Laddie.* Recently Laddie has enjoyed time spent in our sensory garden and also loves volunteers spending time with him after walks in his kennel (as these photos show) photo credit Shilpa Grewal, Alex, Jo Maxwell
